The Gypsy Cobs of Surrey Springs

Stallions and Colts

Surrey Springs Armani

Armani's sire is The Chocolater (imp UK & USA) and his dam is The Black Teddy Mare. We have kept him as a potential future sire as we know that the bloodlines of The Teddy Mare have produced some top class Cobs. He will have his first babies on the ground this coming spring from Domino and Joy.

Tom of Brackenhill

Imported from the UK in 2005, "Rom Tom" was our first Gypsy Cob stallion. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of not only our stud but the breed itself in Australia. For the thousands of people in this country who met Tom at the many shows and expos we took him to, he and Tia were the first Gypsy Cobs they had ever seen or touched.

The Paladin

Paladin was imported from the UK in 2007 and finally landed in Australia on Tuesday the 11th of December. "Pen"is a son of The Gykes Black Horse (aka The Horse Who Broke His Back) from the original Long Mane Mare from Ireland so traces back to some very influential Gypsy Cob bloodlines.

Chance of Durham

"Fancy Pants" as he was affectionately known was a black colt by Davey Ward's Black Stallion from the beautiful chestnut and white mare Lucy Lou now owned by James and Christine Taylor. Chance only left one pure bred colt before his untimely death.

Surrey Springs Pied Piper

Piper is a son of Chance from the lovely little mare Brackenhill Domino. He is full of beans and character just like his sire.
'Mares and Fillies'

Tia

Tia (her name means princess but she's in reality the Queen of Surrey Springs)  was imported with Tom in 2005. She was our first mare. Bred in Hartlepoole, England by Andrew Moffat. Tia is out of a mare known as Bones originally purchased by Tia's breeder from Gykes. Tia is a larger Gypsy Cob mare measuring just over 15 hands.

Brackenhill Domino

Domino was imported in 2006 along with Kesali, Danni Showers' Storm of Brackenhill and Geraldine Chapman's Jango Dancer of Brackenhill. Both Domino and Jango were bred by Ian Chapman their sire being known as The IC Stallion. Domino's dam was a splashy marked chestnut and white mare.

Kesali

Kesali was bred by Logan Wood County Durham and is another of our Ward's bred mares. Kesali is a very heavy pony mare with an exceptionally sweet head which she passes on to her offspring. Kesali is the dam of Sylph who has been retained by our stud.

Pepsi

Pepsi, a bay and white mare was bred by renowned breeder John Pratt and sold in utero with her dam Shakira to Awhirk Farm in Scotland. Pepsi is a bigger mare. We have retained her buckskin daughter Rivella as a future show prospect for the stud.

Nyssa

Nyssa is another well bred mare tracing back to Frainey and Horseshoe lines. A very sweet natured mare, Nyssa is the dam of little Adarma by The Chocolatier who has also been retained by our stud.
